Hannah R. Gerber is an assistant professor of literacy at Sam Houston State University in Texas. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. Her current research interests lie in the study of adolescents’ multiple uses of new literacies and popular culture, with a particular focus on the medium of video games as a literacy experience. Gerber conducts research on both the socio-cultural and cognitive aspects of gaming and literacy and is continuously searching for new ways to incorporate pedagogical tools inherent in new literacy learning into classroom instruction, as well as looking for practical applications for new literacy use within the curriculum.
