THEN . . . VOYA WANTS YOU!!
VOYA Magazine reviews are used by both public and school librarians and other youth-serving educators and professionals to make selection choices for collection development in their communities.
The VOYA review section annually provides our readers with approximately 1,200 reviews of YA fiction (all genres), nonfiction, reference materials, and series nonfiction, as well as professional titles for librarians, educators, and parents. Our reviews are designed so our readers are able to make quick, educated decisions about titles, using our unique rating system. VOYA’s Q, P, and age-level interest codes are designed to give busy professionals a rapid way of scrolling through reviews to find what might be of interest to them.
Each review contains enough plot coverage and critical analysis to give readers the information they need. Because most of our readers are librarians, they are working with tight budgets, and our reviews will often be the deciding factor in whether to purchase a title or not.
Reviewing for VOYA Magazine is a rigorous and time-consuming commitment. It requires dedication and professionalism. Your reviews will be important to publishers, authors, VOYA readers, and especially to the youth served by VOYA readers. Your attention to crafting informative, fair, and sensitive 200 – 250 word reviews will be professionally challenging, but also satisfying. Knowing you are contributing to putting the right book into the hands of a young adult at just the right time is an invaluable contribution to the youth for whom we advocate. Your peers will appreciate your opinions; and VOYA Magazine values our amazing team of reviewers who make our mission possible. We know that it is because of our team of more than 200 reviewers that we are able to fulfill our promise to our readers.
VOYA reviewers are given a free subscription to our journal after one year of successful reviewing as a sign of our gratitude. We also provide reviewers with finished copies of books they review from ARCs. We provide editorial feedback and guidance, as well as ongoing training to ensure our reviewers are sensitive to the many diverse communities of young adult readers we serve. VOYA is especially seeking reviewers with diverse backgrounds and knowledge about various communities of young adults.
